Why We Use Advertising on Our Website

Wipe Out Transphobia is a grassroots organisation/project, committed to tackling transphobia in society, and promoting the rights, dignity, and safety of transgender and non-binary people internationally. Our work includes providing education and resources, challenging misinformation, advocating for inclusive policy, and offering support to individuals and communities affected by transphobia.

As a small, volunteer-led organisation, we have few sources of funding available to us to keep our work going. These are things like donations, small grants, and contributions from supporters. However, running a website, producing educational materials, and maintaining support services all come with ongoing costs, such as hosting fees, domain names, design updates, accessibility improvements, and communication tools.

To us to help cover these essential expenses and keep the organisation sustainable, we have chosen to run advertisements on our website. We understand that ads are not everyoneโ€™s preference (and we’ve kept them to a minimum), but they are a practical way for us to generate a modest but crucial stream of income. This income helps ensure that we can continue providing free and accessible content, without having to put our resources behind a paywall or rely solely on fundraising campaigns.

Itโ€™s important to us that advertising does not compromise the integrity or values of our work. We aim to ensure that the ads served on our site are appropriate and do not conflict with our mission. We are continuously reviewing how ads appear, and we welcome feedback from our visitors on their experience.

By allowing ads, we are able to focus more of our energy and time on what really matters, standing up to transphobia, offering support to those in need, and working towards a more inclusive and equitable society. Every visit to our site, including those where ads are viewed or clicked, helps us stay online and amplify our message.

We deeply appreciate your understanding and continued support. If you prefer an ad-free experience or would like to contribute in another way, please consider making a donation or becoming a regular supporter. Together, we can continue to fight transphobia and build a better future for trans and non-binary people everywhere.

Thank you.
